KLIK INI UNTUK BACA DALAM BAHASA INDONESIA
It was past eleven o’clock that night. Although it is normally time to take a rest, still many people out there preparing an annual ‘ritual’ armed with a colorful long trumpet to welcome the new year 2010. Accompanied by Khong Guan biscuit and a glass of water, these writings began slowly.
Many events took place throughout the year of 2009. Overseas events starting from turbulent economic recession in the United States (U.S.), when the first black president, Barack Hussein Obama, newly elected and begin his tenure runs until five years into the future. Later he had just won the Nobel Peace Prize because of his success to anticipate the turmoil of terrorism in his country. Events in the country was also not less interesting, ranging from the death of Indonesian students at Nanyang Technological University to the 2009 Presidential Election, which was won by SBY and PD with a percentage of more than sixty percent.
Situ Gintung dike accident was really unexpected. In exchange, it was not a small number of victims instead. A shooting incident also participated this year occurrences with the shot-to-death of the director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran, Nasrudin Zulkarnaen from a considerable distance when he was in his car. The case has become a serial sequence of events with the emergence of allegations Antasari Azhar as the mastermind of this murder.
Upheavals of corruption in Indonesia is also in a worrying situation. Starting from the suspension of Antasari Azhar, chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, for allegedly involved in the shooting of Nasrudin Zulkarnaen and his involvement with the third person named Rhani Juliani upcoming the theme of love triangle assuming that Antasari wanted Rhani further were just like other two cents.
Fluctuations in the Commission itself has not ended because their two ad-interim chief officers, Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra Hamzah, were arrested for alleged extortion threats against the emergence of a ‘new player’, Anggodo Wijaya (whom his brother was actually a ‘long player’, Anggoro Wijaya, the president director of PT. Masaro, allegedly involved in the bribery case of members of the House in the procurement process of the Integrated Radio Communication System – SKRT in the Department of Forestry). Various protests and demonstrations with the slogan “Gecko versus Crocodile” also became a hot topic with news at which the Commission assumed that the police has been considered obstructing them in combating corruption in Indonesia.
Various previous events below are more clear after seeing the red line that Antasari Azhar was about to start the prosecution of the Century Bank funds conduction. The flow of funds that was allegedly so many billions to fund the campaign of SBY provide tremendous surprise to the public. Speculation after speculation that the various parties who received such funds came into the spotlight. Democratic Party, of which the ‘vehicle’ of SBY while winning the election, invited a big question mark considering their victory was unexpected with the absolute number of more than sixty percent of vote.
The flow of billion rupiahs that came out from the Century Bank is also in an open question. Ironically, the transaction occurred just after they got a bailout from the government of Indonesia. Were the bailout funds planned solely to finance the campaign of SBY? Boediono and Sri Mulyani, of course, will be the next targets after this because the two figures were the important person in the decision to give a bailout to Century Bank.
Later, George Junus Aditjondro wrote a book titled “Membongkar Gurita Cikeas: Di Balik Skandal Bank Century” (Dismantling Cikeas Chain: Behind the Scandal of Century Bank). I got this book three days ago and I finished reading the whole book yesterday. This book was sold-out only in counting days and well-regarded as one of the most controversial book of the year. One thing for certain, we must be careful when reading it since it gives a large data at which it is very potential to be misleading. Do you know the book “Da Vinci Code” written by Dan Brown ?
The death of David Hartanto Widjdja should be looked further. The integrity of our government in defending the rights of people residing outside the country should be given a big question mark. Not a few workers who experienced violence in neighboring countries. Conversely, corruptors who ‘ran’ to neighboring countries act as such as the ones untouched, as if the extradition laws are no longer valid in the ASEAN region. David, who happens to share my name, was allegedly committed suicide action by jumping from the 4th floor in one of the NTU campus building after failing to kill his professor known, Chan Kap Luk, who was considered to have a bad relationship with student while committing his thesis in his last semester. The death of other NTU students shockingly followed after this accident, although in the end it was worded with the final decision that David committed suicide. An oppressive fact it is, although it looked alike-but-not-the-same with the case made by Seung-Hui Cho at Virginia Tech. Ironically, the news echo of David was no longer heard after the general election started filling up the hot line news every single day.
Omni Tangerang Hospital became the head line of lots media after one of its patients, Prita Mulyasari, wrote a complaint via email to some of her friends. The institution found it offensive and this small problem became a big matter after the civil trial was committed with a major threat of confinement. Malpractice is actually not a new thing in our society. Unfortunately, only a few of these incidents are visible to the surface.
Soap opera titled “Manohara” came to talk to the crowd after its popularity soared sharply in conjunction with the personal problems of its main actress, Manohara Odelia Pinot, with the Prince of Kelantan Malaysia, Tengku Muh. Fakhry. It also became a hot topic all infotainment broadcast instantly. Amazingly, the popularity even far more than of David’s death case previously.
The case of terrorism in Indonesia also not seemed to miss taking part. The reappearance of a bomb blast at the JW Merriott seemed to recall the accident in Bali bomb blast a few years ago. And this time with the plan no less neat, Noordin M. Top managed to create panic with his success in designing an act of terrorism and get away in an instant. Later, Noordin is believed to have been successfully neutralized along with his father in-law, Baridin aka Bahrudin Baridin Latif who was arrested after hiding in the Garut district.
And in the end, obituaries came to be the closing topic on this year after Gus Dur and Frans Seda are reported passed away. Gus Dur, also known as Abdurrachman Wahid, became a central figure to be reckoned with culture in the last decade after his success with this country out of the Era Orde Baru (New Order Era) which is identical to the Cendana family for more than three decades. Frans Seda, who was also one of the characters in the new order served several ministerial positions in the 60′s, should also be remembered as one who developed the economy of this country. Farewell Sir!
Hopefully this new year of 2010 brought our country to be better in the future, wishing our dreams and desires met, we all become better people. May God bless us all. Happy New Year 2010!
